2019-20 Administrative Appointment - Eli Whitney

PRESS RELEASE:  June 21, 2019
Superintendent’s Office

Administrative Appointment for FY2019-20

TaLoria M. Wilson – Principal of Eli Whitney Elementary School

Mrs. Wilson comes to Eli Elementary School from her position as Assistant Principal at Noah Webster MicroSociety Magnet School in Hartford.  She began her administrative career as an Intern via the University of Bridgeport in 2000.  Prior to entering administration, she served as a fifth-grade classroom teacher, an English Language Arts teacher and a Title 1 Reading Teacher.  Her strong background in literacy, instruction and data driven decision making have allowed her to effectively evaluate staff and make decisions to positively impact student achievement.  Her training in school climate and restorative practices helped her build rapport necessary to provide a safe, trusting environment where all stakeholders can flourish.  Mrs. Wilson is also a strong proponent of parent and community engagement, involvement and collaboration.  She plans to continue holding many community events and finding new and innovative ways to provide opportunities to enrich the lives of our students and families.

Mrs. Wilson believes that strong relationships are the cornerstone of a successful school.  When staff and students feel recognized and respected, they are more willing to take the risks that lead to true learning.  Principal Wilson stated, “On my first visit to Eli Whitney participating in a parent and staff focus group, I could feel the positive energy.  The building buzzed with student-focused energy and excitement and I left with a huge smile on my face.  My core values align well with the work Eli Whitney is already doing.  Therefore, I am proud to be a part of the Enfield family and am very passionate about helping Eli Whitney continue to thrive.”

Please join us in welcoming TaLoria M. Wilson as Principal of Eli Whitney Elementary School.  She will start this administrative appointment on July 1, 2019.
