PRESS RELEASE
The Rockville Bank Foundation recently donated $1000 to the Enfield Public Schools Mentoring Program. Enfield Mentoring matches and supports caring adult volunteers who spend one hour per week one-on-one with students who benefit from the extra support. Mentors use this time talking, playing games, reinforcing academics, doing crafts, and sharing interests. The goal is to create a trusting relationship that continues through graduation. The funds will be used to purchase copies of Susan Weinberger’s Preparing My Mentor for Me—a Personal Reference Guide and My Mentor and Me series. These booklets will be distributed to the existing mentoring team and future mentors too. They are designed to be valuable reference tools for new volunteers as well as provide different and age-appropriate activity ideas for the veteran mentors. The program will get a three-year supply with these funds. Enfield Mentoring is extremely grateful to the Rockville Bank Foundation for this very generous donation. In order to provide the resources necessary to build and maintain a quality mentoring organization, it is critical that we attract the support of local businesses and charitable foundations. We are pleased that the Rockville Bank Foundation finds value in our mission of establishing caring and strong relationships between adult volunteers and Enfield school children.
Anyone who has an interest in learning more about the Enfield Mentoring Program should contact program coordinator, Susan Hart, at 253-4737.
