Explore and develop your leadership potential! 

The Parent Leadership Academy (PLA) will teach you how to: 

  • run productive meetings,
  • plan successful projects,
  • network with key community leaders
  • understand and manage conflict and
  • improve your ability to speak effectively to any group.


Academy Orientation:  Saturday, February 3, 2018, 9 AM - 3:30 PM

Academy Workshops:  Thursdays, 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM for 12 weeks

Join us for our 13th year helping Enfield parents discover the leader within ourselves.  Our workshops are guided by professionals from around the country and world and will give you the tools and the confidence you need to ask for and receive positive change in your life and in your community.  The classes wrap-up with a community service project demonstrating all the new skills!  

Free of Charge: Parent leaders are so important to our local and state community that we've received a generous grant from SERC/CT PRC to continue our mission.

Free of Charge: Classes - for any Enfield parent, grandparent or guardian
                                Meals - a light dinner is provided for all each gathering
                           Childcare - provided by qualified paraprofessionals to those who request it at the time of registration

Enrollment is limited to 15 participants, so apply early and by January 30!

Answers to frequently asked questions:

v  Parents, grandparents and primary caregivers are welcome to apply.

v   Applicants should be residents of Enfield or have a child that resides in Enfield.

v  The classes are for men and women of all ages and backgrounds.

v Classes are held at Stowe Early Learning Center on Thursday evenings from 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM once a week beginning in February and will run for 12 weeks.

v  Sessions are run by professional trainers in the areas of but not limited to: leadership styles, running productive & effective meetings, conflict management & resolution, public speaking, project planning.

v There is no charge to the participants of the Parent Leadership Academy other than time and commitment.

v  The cost for the classes, the materials and childcare is paid by grant funding.

v   A complimentary dinner will be provided before each class.

v Free childcare provided. (Request for on-site childcare assistance should be submitted with the enrollment application.)

v  Regular access to the internet or an e-mail account is required to participate.

v  Regular attendance required to graduate and receive the Leadership Certificate.

v  At least 10 volunteer hours of participation in a community project (chosen by the class) is required.

v  All classes will be conducted in English.

v  A Graduation Ceremony will be held the first week of June.
