Administrative Appointment for FY2020-21

Kathleen Flanaghan – Eli Whitney Elementary School

The Enfield Board of Education approved Kate Flanaghan to serve in the position of principal at Eli Whitney Elementary School.  Prior to her appointment, Mrs. Flanaghan has served in many positions within the Enfield Public School district, including the assistant principal at Henry Barnard Elementary School, academic coach at Hazardville Memorial and Eli Whitney Elementary Schools, and as a classroom teacher at Prudence Crandall and Henry Barnard Elementary Schools.  She has served over ten years as a State of Connecticut TEAM mentor and cooperating teacher for new teacher candidates, in addition to her work for the Capitol Region Educational Council (CREC) as a District Liaison - Choice Summer Program academic coach and curriculum developer.

Mrs. Flanaghan earned a Master of Education degree in special education from American International College, a Sixth-Year Certificate in educational leadership from Central Connecticut State University, and an Advanced Certificate in social-emotional-learning from the University of Colorado.  Prior to the graduate programs, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from American International College and an Associate in Liberal Arts degree from Asnuntuck Community College.

 

Mrs. Flanaghan is an active member of her local community.  She has served as a member of the Town of Enfield Beautification Committee and served as a member and continued supporter of the Enfield Lions Club.  She resides in Enfield with her husband David and is a proud parent to three grown children who continue to reside, work, and support the Enfield community.
