Parent/Guardian Message from John Gallacher

Dear Parents/Guardians:
First, I hope you and your family are safe and have electric power in your home. The storm had a devastating effect on Enfield. As of 10:00 AM this morning 54% of the town was still without electricity. The community shelter at Kennedy Middle School is operating. Barnard School and Crandall School are still without power. Many streets are impassable for both cars and school buses. Many sidewalks are totally covered by brush and tree debris.
Based on the above conditions and information received at the daily emergency management meetings I have cancelled school for Monday, November 7th. Hopefully this early notification will give you the opportunity to plan accordingly.
The staff in-service for Tuesday, November 8th will be held as scheduled. We are optimistic that all of our facilities will be fully operational by then. As a reminder students do NOT have classes on November 8th.
Classes for students will resume on Wednesday, November 9th. Stay tuned to the emergency phone line 860-253-5170 for updated information.
Finally, I want to assure you that the safety of the students is paramount. We realize this is an extensive delay but conditions for both walkers and bus riders necessitate this additional day delay.
Sincerely,
John Gallacher, Superintendent
