WALKERS: We realize that many sidewalks are covered with debris. Unfortunately, our fleet is not large enough to provide temporary bus service to students designated as walkers. Again, we ask parents to either walk or drive their child to school or make arrangements with another adult to do so.
PARENTAL DISCRETION: As always, we remind parents to exercise their discretion on safety issues. If you feel that it is unsafe to send your child to school keep him/her home. Simply call the school office to report your decision. The day(s) missed will be treated as an excused absence. Your child’s safety is very important. As the parent, we look to you to keep your child home if you feel it is unsafe to walk to school or ride the bus to school.
Likewise, the principals have been instructed to be very lenient with tardy students. Children arriving late due to road or street conditions will not be counted tardy.
Hopefully in a few more days, all of our roads will be fully accessible and sidewalks will be cleared. Thank you for your understanding and patience. Like you, we look forward to getting back into the routine of school.
Finally, a rumor has been circulating that classes will be held on Veterans’ Day. As of this writing, we are NOT holding classes on Veterans’ Day, Friday, November 11th.
John Gallacher, Superintendent
