Dear Parents/Guardians:
At their meeting on Tuesday, December 14th, the Board of Education formally recognized the Enfield School District’s elementary reorganization plan which identifies four buildings as K-2 schools and three as 3-5 schools. This plan also includes the redistricted school zones and how the K-2 schools will feed into the 3-5 schools.
Parents and guardians can now access information on the schools their children will attend for the 2011-2012 school year through the Enfield Public Schools’ district website (www.enfieldschools.org). By clicking on the link to EPS Reorganization, parents/guardians can put in their street address and be informed of their children’s school(s). For families that do not have access to the internet, computers are available for public use in the town’s libraries. In addition, maps of the new school zones will be available in all schools, EPS Central Office, Town Hall, Enfield Central Library, Pearl Street Library, Lamagna Center, and Head Start.
The locations of the Choice Kindergarten Program, the EPS Preschool (PreK) program, as well as special education self-contained classrooms are as follows:
ASD (primary) at Hazardville Memorial
ASD (intermediate) at Edgar H. Parkman
All Preschool (PreK) classrooms at Hazardville Memorial
CREC Open Choice Kindergarten Program at Henry Barnard
ECP (primary and intermediate) at Prudence Crandall
Primary Adaptive Learning (PAL) Program at Nathan Hale
The Board of Education and school administration will continue to work to make this transition smooth and successful for our students and their families. We have developed some suggestions for ways to talk with children about their new school and included them on the reverse side of this letter. When additional information becomes available, our school communities will be notified through E-TV, fliers, the district’s website, and progress reports at BOE meetings. As always, if you have any questions regarding the reorganization of the elementary schools, please do not hesitate to call your child's principal.
