Preparing for the Kindergarten Transition

A Three Part Series

The office of the Superintendent is pleased to announce that the Enfield Public Schools in Partnership with KITE, will hold a three part series for students that will attend in the fall 2021. We will hold information transition events that will provide opportunities for parents to hear about the registration process, the kindergarten curriculum and the structure of a kindergarten day.  Parents will hear from Chris Drezek, Superintendent; Jessica Spera, Director of Health Services;  and Primary Principals (James Graham – Henry Barnard, Mark Lord – Enfield Street and Lisa Hunter – Hazardville Memorial); Kindergarten Teachers.


This series is designed to prepare families for this huge milestone in their children’s lives, STARTING KINDERGARTEN! You will receive helpful tips for preparing your child, be able to meet school personnel, and receive information on when, and how to register your child for kindergarten.


Part 1 – On Tuesday, April 5th

We will hold a drive-thru pickup of Kindergarten Registration Packets in the front of Alcorn School (1010 Enfield Street).  For the convenience of families, there will be two pick-up times:

6:30 AM – 8:30 AM or 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM


Part 2 – On Monday, April 11th

Between April 11th – April 20st watch a video presentation online featuring all the presenters and a power point about the kindergarten day.  Video will be posted on the KITE and Enfield Public Schools websites for families to watch at their convenience. and


Part 3 – On Wednesday, April 20th

KITE will host a Live Zoom Q&A with those who participated in the video presentation to answer questions.  Following the large group Q&A, families will be invited to join a breakout room with the principal of the school their child will be attending.  To register, please go to  Advance registration is required to receive the Zoom link.
