PRESS RELEASE:  March 4, 2021
Superintendent’s Office

All Eastern Honors Ensembles

The office of the Superintendent is pleased to announce that Enfield High School senior, Luke Barnes has been selected to virtually participate in the 2021 NAfME All-Eastern Honors Ensembles March 4th-6th, 2021.

The NAfME All-Eastern Honors Ensembles, consists of a concert band, symphony orchestra, mixed chorus, treble chorus, and jazz ensemble.  They are organized by members from The National Association for Music Education.  Student participation from each state is determined by a percentage of the total NAfME Eastern Division Membership.

Each of the state music educators in the Eastern Division (CT, DC, DE, MA, MD, ME, NH, NJ, NY, RI, PA VT) oversee the selection process in their state during the fall of the year before the event and compile ranked lists of recommended juniors and seniors for consideration.  The method used to compile the lists varies from state to state, although all recommended students must have been selected to participate in their home all-state festivals.

Luke Barnes will prepare remarkably challenging music that he will pre-record and submit for the virtual performance under the leadership of prominent conductors in this prestigious event.  Mr. Barnes has been selected to participate as the first chair clarinetist in the All Eastern Symphonic Band.  This virtual Eastern Division Honor Ensembles program will be held on Thursday, March 4th – Saturday, March 6th and will include several rehearsals with the 2021 All Eastern Conductors, workshops with renown clinicians, and each ensemble will create a final, recorded performance which will be premiered online.

Please join us by congratulating Enfield High School student Luke Barnes for this outstanding accomplishment and for representing Enfield so proudly.
