Preparing for the Kindergarten Transition

A Three Part Series

The office of the Superintendent is pleased to announce that the Enfield Public Schools in Partnership with KITE, will hold a three part series for students that will attend in the fall 2021. We will hold information transition events that will provide opportunities for parents to hear about the registration process, the kindergarten curriculum and the structure of a kindergarten day.  Parents will hear from Chris Drezek, Superintendent; Trish Vayda, Nursing Supervisor; Primary Principals (James Graham – Henry Barnard, Mark Lord – Enfield Street and Lisa Hunter – Hazardville Memorial); Kindergarten Teachers; current Kindergarten Parents and PTO Representatives.

This year due to COVID, the event will look different than in the past, but will still contain all the same content to prepare families for this huge milestone in their children’s lives.

Part 1 – On Tuesday, April 6th
We will hold a drive-thru pickup of Kindergarten Registration Packets in the front of Alcorn School (1010 Enfield Street).  For the convenience of families, there will be two pick-up times:    6:30 AM – 8:30 AM or 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM

Part 2 – On Monday, April 12th
Between April 12th – April 22nd watch a video presentation online featuring all the presenters and a power point about the kindergarten day.  Video will be posted on the KITE and Enfield Public Schools websites for families to watch at their convenience. and

Part 3 – On Thursday, April 22nd
KITE will host a Live Zoom Q&A with those who participated in the video presentation to answer questions.  Following the large group Q&A, families will be invited to join a breakout room with the principal of the school their child will be attending.  To register, please go to  Advance registration is required to receive the Zoom link.
