LEAP is a research-based grant-funded opportunity to implement a relational, multi-visit, home visit program designed as a targeted intervention for students who have missed or begun to miss too much school.
Enfield Public Schools has a received a $150,000 grant to support teams of home visitors at each school that will support families or students to help reduce chronic absenteeism in Enfield Schools.
Things to know about the LEAP:
- Intended to build strong connections between families and their school(s)
- Is voluntary for all - Families can choose not to participate
- Should be a supportive, relationship building opportunity
- Home visitations are scheduled in advance

Home visitors are trained and travel in pairs . Each time visitors will show identification as Enfield Public Schools employees
- Visits can take place in either the home or community place comfortable for the family
- Compliments existing attendance interventions
- Is intended to be a continuing process as long as a student is experiencing chronic absenteeism
