Each year, near the end of the school year, the Bureau of Special Education begins the process of conducting a statewide survey of parents and guardians of students receiving special education services, ages 3 through 21. The statewide survey is the continuation of an ongoing collaborative effort between the Bureau of Special Education (BSE) and the Connecticut Parent Work Group (PWG) to collect information on family satisfaction and parent involvement in their child’s special education program. Survey results are reported to the U. S. Department of Education Office of Special Education Programs (see Indicator 8 of the FFY 2013 Part B State Performance Plan/Annual Performance Report at http://www.sde.ct.gov/sde/lib/sde/pdf/deps/special/apr_2013b_ct.pdf), and results are used to monitor progress in improving special education services for Connecticut students with disabilities.

 

The 2014-2015 statewide survey represents the first year of the first cycle of the new three-year sampling protocol for the State Performance Plan (SPP). The 2014-2015 Connecticut Special Education Parent Survey will be sent to a sample of parents within the 56 Cohort A School Districts identified for 2014-15. Enfield Public School District has been identified for sampling in this year’s survey cycle. Surveys will be mailed to parents in August/September this summer. Parents again will be able to complete the survey online using the six-digit code that they will receive in the mail. Both an online and paper survey will be available in English and Spanish.

Parents are strongly encouraged to participate in the CSEPS.

The CT Parent Advocacy Center is offering to parents free educational materials at no cost, just for completing the survey

Cada año, cerca del final del año escolar, la Oficina de Educación Especial comienza el proceso de realización de una encuesta a nivel estatal de los padres y tutores de los estudiantes que reciben servicios de educación especial, de entre 3 a 21. La encuesta a nivel estatal es la continuación de una colaboración en curso esfuerzo entre la Oficina de Educación Especial (EEB) y el Grupo de Trabajo de Padres de Connecticut (GTP) para recoger información sobre la satisfacción de la familia y la participación de los padres en el programa de educación especial de su hijo.
